Mobile Privacy Policy for Language Lens

Language Lens ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your absolute privacy. This policy explains how we handle information within the Language Lens Mobile application, with a specific focus on our real-time overlay and camera features.
1. Screen Share & Camera Permissions (Strictly Local Processing)
To provide real-time translation, Language Lens requires access to sensitive device sensors. We adhere to a strict "Zero Data Extraction" policy regarding these permissions.
🎮 Gaming Mode & Overlay (Screen Recording Permission)
To translate text inside other apps and games, Language Lens requests Android's Screen Capture/Recording permission (MediaProjection API). We respect your privacy and handle this data with the strictest security measures:
- Zero Data Transmission: Absolutely no screen capture data, screenshots, or extracted text is taken from your device, sent to our servers, or shared with any third party.
- Volatile Memory Only: Screen frames are processed entirely within your device's active, temporary memory (RAM) to perform optical character recognition (OCR) and are instantaneously overwritten.
- No Background Monitoring: Screen processing only occurs when the overlay is actively engaged by you. We do not covertly log, save, record, or monitor your screen activity, private conversations, or passwords.
📸 Live Camera Mode
When translating physical documents or signs, the App utilizes your device's camera. We do not record, save, or upload your camera feed. Like our screen capture technology, image frames are processed in real-time on your device and discarded immediately after the translation is displayed on your screen.
2. Information We Collect
A. Automatically Collected Information
To ensure app stability and support free services, we only collect non-personally identifiable, generic analytics through standard Android telemetry:
- Device identifiers (Google Advertising ID) strictly for ad-supported versions.
- Basic system information (OS version, device model).
- Anonymous crash reports.
3. Third-Party Services & Cloud Translation
- Offline Local Models: By default, Language Lens prioritizes local processing. When using downloaded offline language packs, 100% of the translation occurs on your hardware.
- Google ML Kit (Optional Cloud): If you request a translation for a language you have not downloaded, the extracted text (and only the extracted text snippet, never the image/screenshot) may be securely sent to Google's translation APIs. It is not retained or tied to your identity.
- Google AdMob: Serves advertisements in the free version. You can opt-out of personalized ads in your Android system settings.
4. Data Security & Children's Privacy
We prioritize security by avoiding account-based systems. Since no account is required, no personal identity is stored on our servers. The App is not intended for use by children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
